Midlife Atlas
What Midlife Atlas collects, why we hold it, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted.
This policy explains what Midlife Atlas collects, why we hold it, how long we keep it, and how to get it deleted. It covers this website, the free tools and the Starter Kit email list.
We will publish our full registered contact details here before we begin collecting email addresses. Until then no email list is running, and the tools should be treated as a private beta.
Standard server logs may record technical information such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. We use these to keep the site available and secure, not to build a profile of you.
Your email address and password are handled by our authentication provider; we never see your password. You can optionally add a display name. We also store your preferences: metric or imperial units, your timezone, and whether you want email updates.
The trackers only store anything when you are signed in and choose to save. What they keep:
We will store your email address and the fact that you asked for the Starter Kit, so we can send it and the newsletter. This is not live yet; nothing on the site currently collects an email address.
Entries about your symptoms, sleep and hot flashes are information about your health, and the law treats that as a special category needing extra protection. We rely on your explicit consent to hold it: nothing is stored unless you are signed in and actively save it.
We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not share it with clinicians, employers or insurers, and we do not use it to train machine learning models. It exists so that you can look back at your own record and take it to an appointment if you want to.
Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect anything done beforehand.
We use a small number of service providers, who process information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Supabase provides the database and sign-in service that stores your account and your tool entries. Resend will send the Starter Kit and the newsletter once the email list is live. We will list our hosting provider, and any analytics service, here before launch.
Anything you save in the tools is kept until you delete it or delete your account — we do not expire it on a schedule, because a symptom record is more useful the longer it runs. Deleting your account deletes every entry attached to it automatically.
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to receive it in a portable format, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent. We will not charge you and we will respond within one month.
Deleting your account removes your profile, preferences and every symptom, sleep, hot flash and appointment entry attached to it. A self-serve delete button is not built yet, so for now ask us and we will do it for you.
If you think we have handled your information badly you can complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather you told us first, so we can put it right.
We set the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. We do not use advertising cookies. If we add analytics we will say so here and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Midlife Atlas is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date shown here. If the change is significant and you are on the email list, we will tell you.
